As an apprentice Project Controls Technician you will learn all aspects of the industry including estimating, planning and cost control. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about core areas such as safety, legislation and technical engineering.
At the end of the apprenticeship, you will be able to:

  1. Describe the project life-cycle, breakdown structures, the relationship between time and cost, quality and risk, and how project controls is critical to successful project delivery
  2. Explain relevant engineering, construction and infrastructure specific knowledge including related national and industrial health, safety and environmental standards and legislation
  3. Differentiate between the techniques for estimate development such as parametric, analogous, bottom-up.
  4. Identify the differences between planning and scheduling, key terms and processes used to produce control schedules
  5. Interpret the technical requirements to produce a workable control schedule including development of logic networks, dependencies, critical paths, resource management, levelling and smoothing and impact of uncertainty and risk
